Killing it as a Cam Girl — 5 Hot Tips for Camming Success

Making a living on cam may seem like an easy gig, but when your income depends on the mood of your audience, it can be anything but. As the saying goes, you can’t please all of the people all of the time, but you gotta shoot for making the majority happy to see a good payout. It’s also a highly competitive area, so having that little extra something is a requirement for making bank. If you feel like a little fish in a big pond, DON’T! There are tons of outside the box ways you can engage your viewers, and we’ve compiled a list of our top five fave tips.

Dress for Success — This may seem like an odd tip when your viewers are waiting for you to UNdress, but hear me out — they’re not just there for quick thrills, they’re there for an experience. Take the time to give them one by turning your show into art. That means putting effort into your appearance, the setting, AND content. Settling for slapdash shows may work for a while, but if you get what you pay for so make sure you’re giving your fans something worth buying.

Tell a Story — In the same vein, make sure that when you let viewers peek into your day, the view isn’t too realistic. There’s nothing wrong with using real-life inspiration, but take the time to build a little fantasy around it. Everyone loves a good story, so make sure your giving your fans great content around a great narrative.

Eat on Cam (Food, that is) — There’s something to be said about sharing a meal with someone, and that’s why going out to eat is a popular option for dates and hanging out with old friends–it’s a bonding experience. It’s one of the easiest ways to establish an atmosphere of intimacy that the viewer won’t expect–it will give your fans a feeling of familiarity and trust, which will make them even more receptive to what you’re selling.

Be Soft —    Vulnerability sells — there’s no doubt. And honestly, being on cam is already an extremely vulnerable activity, so try letting your emotions mirror your content. Being vulnerable on cam means being HUMAN and that means more people will connect with you (and that means earning more money). Think about all the influencers out there, and the ones who are really selling–they’re the ones who seem the most relatable, the most reachable, and the most real. Putting that realness out for your fans will make them see you as more than just entertainment, and that will translate into a bigger payout.

Talk (and Don’t Talk) — For the same reason communicating with your fans is crucial to knowing what they love and what you need to do more, going nonverbal can be interesting too. Make sure there’s not too much lip service during a show, and take some time to give the camera (i.e. your fans) some silent direct eye contact. Doing this will create a sense of excitement as to what could be going on behind the stare, so use it to your advantage and enjoy a moment of silence.
