Healthy Pumpkin Spice Latte – Easy Recipe!
With Halloween around the corner, it’s time to enjoy everyone’s favourite autumn drink: the pumpkin spice latte. We all enjoy this Starbucks classic! Maybe it’s the creaminess of the pumpkin, or the flavours from the pumpkin spice mix that makes us feel nostalgic in this cozy season… Whatever it may be, we can all agree that this drink is a must, especially in autumn.
If it were up to me, I’d have it every morning… but let’s be real, the original pumpkin spice latte made by Starbucks is full of unnecessary calories and A LOT of sugar. This is mainly due to the pumpkin syrup they use for their drinks, which we will substitute with real pumpkin puree. We’ll also go for healthier milk, almond or oat milk, which is easier to digest and rich in nutrients. Lastly, we’ll also swap sugar as a sweetener for stevia, honey or maple syrup.
Also keep in mind your toppings. If you like whipped cream on your latte, go for the low fat or low calorie option to make this drink healthier but still a real treat! With that being said, for the ladies and gents that are looking for a healthy alternative, we bring you our recipe for your own healthy pumpkin spice latte. It’s lower in calories, higher in nutrients, vegan, lactose-free and delicious!
The ingredients are minimal, healthy and easy to get at any supermarket. You’ll need espresso (which you probably already have), oat milk (my personal favourite milk), vanilla extract (a must in anyone’s kitchen), pumpkin spice mix (this might be a little trickier to find in certain stores), pumpkin puree (also easy to find) and a sweetener of your choice (stevia, maple syrup, honey etc).
While the original beverage is 380 calories, our version is a lot lighter at around 90 calories per drink (depending on your sweetener of choice). Allowing you to enjoy this delicious drink while still feeling light and ready for what the day brings.
With all that being said, let’s get started!
