In Honor of George Floyd

A few months ago we thought we were facing the worst that 2020 had to throw at us. In the wake of a global pandemic, we talked about your role as an influencer, and how the words and information you share with your fans matter.

Now we are faced with another tragic event. In response to an unspeakable act of violence by Derek Chauvin, a white Minneapolis police officer, against a black man, George Floyd, that resulted in his death, Americans are saying enough is enough. Racial tensions are raging against an issue that is less like a two-sided coin and more like a pair of dice. People are protesting, people are rioting, and the President himself is threatening violence against his own citizens. There are those who support the black community, but not the riots, while others vehemently agree that a violent uprising is the only way to be heard in a country that has consistently turned a deaf ear.

What happened to George Floyd is horrific. What is happening to black Americans in their own country, in their own neighborhoods, in their own homes, is tragic. It should make you feel something. And what we, as a platform, can do is offer you our support, and a reminder that your words matter. Your opinion, no matter how the dice may fall, is yours alone, and you are free to share that opinion in the way that you choose. Whether you use your platform to make a statement or not is up to you, and we hope that if you do, it will be with as much understanding, humanity, and kindness, as you hope to receive yourself.

Your role as an influencer gives you a platform to stand on. Do so with strength of spirit and compassion in your heart.

At the end of the day, a man’s life was lost through a senseless act of brutality, and whether you’re feeling anger, fear, or grief, your feelings are valid and we hope you’ll use them to help propel the world toward a better future.

Be safe. We love each and every influencer on our platform, and FanCentro does not tolerate racism or hate in any way, shape, or form. It is our hope that our influencers feel the same. You can help by speaking out against incidents of racism, and if you ever see or experience any type of hateful behavior on our community we encourage you to alert us immediately so we can help.

If you would like to make a donation, here are some causes and organizations that could use your support:
