Q: Could you introduce yourself, how you orient & identify yourself?
A: Hello! I’m Mistress Marley, a Pro Financial Dominatrix. I identify as she/her.
Q: How long have you been working in the industry? Could you share a little bit about your origin story & how you found yourself working as a professional dominatrix?
A: I’ve been working in the industry now for 3.5 years. My original background is in fashion design and fashion buying, but after working in corporate America for so long and feeling like I was still struggling to provide for myself and dealing with microaggressions at work, I stumbled across financial domination and everything it entailed.
After doing more research and learning things on my own (there weren’t many mentors around in my area), the rest was history.
Q: What would you say have been the biggest changes you’ve witnessed as the space for Adult Creators has grown/changed?
A: The biggest change has been watching the popularity of our industry increase, especially with it getting introduced to mainstream media during the height of the pandemic (for example when Beyonce sang about Only Fans in the Savage Remix with Meg Thee Stallion). I’ve also noticed the uptick of more educational courses that are available online vs what was available when I first started.
Q: How have you acquired your fanbase? What has been the most effective strategy to building your brand and reaching your professional goals?
A: I’ve acquired my fan base through building organically with content, curating events, and collaborating with other creators. I’ve also had some posts go viral which have helped immensely. The most effective strategy I’ve learned is to be personable with your followers. Keeping them updated on things referring to your brand and staying consistent is a great formula for success.
Q: What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out as an online adult content creator?
A: CONSISTENCY, CONSISTENCY, CONSISTENCY IS IMPORTANT – I can not stress this enough. Posting and disappearing for periods of time can make your followers lose interest. Having a brand voice is also important – you want to stand for something and make that clear to those who are following you.
Q: (Why) Do you think it’s important to establish your place within a niche in the realm of Adult content?
A: In this industry, there are so many different niches and categories, that it’s easy to get overwhelmed if you try to do every single thing. Finding a niche can help you hone in on the kind of content you need to create without things getting too complicated or confusing. Concentrating on one thing also helps you develop yourself creatively and grow even more.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your work as a Dominatrix? What has been the most challenging part?
A: My favorite thing is the different types of clients and other Dommes that I meet within this industry. It’s knowing that my work as a Pro Domme can be healing work for a lot of people.
The most challenging part has been dealing with losing multiple social media pages. Each time, it’s a hit to my hard work and everything that I’ve built – and there doesn’t seem like there’s a sure way to get around it.
